This is a Macintosh laryngoscope blade with a tip which flexes. When engaged on handle the lever controls the tip angle during intubation to lift the epiglottis, giving a clear view of the vocal cords.

It is used clinically to provoke the patient’s epiglottis to expose the glottis, and to guide medical staff to perform tracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation.
